Learning Unlimited Teaching School Alliance in Partnership with Sheffield Hallam University selected to deliver prestigious Teacher Programme in East Midlands, South Yorkshire and the Humber
- Learning Unlimited Teaching School Alliance in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University will support the delivery of Chartered College of Teaching’s Chartered Teacher Programme
- Programme celebrates excellent teaching and awards teachers with Chartered Status
Learning Unlimited has been announced as one of only eleven providers to support the delivery of the Chartered Teacher Programme. The Programme, led by the Chartered College of Teaching, the professional body for teaching, celebrates the excellent teaching and practice occurring in classrooms every single day.
As a provider, Learning Unlimited will play a crucial role in working with teachers across East Midlands, South Yorkshire and the Humber to achieve Chartered Teacher Status with the launch of the next cohort in April. This includes supporting teachers with training opportunities and highly-skilled mentors. The Sheffield Institute of Education at Sheffield Hallam University is hosting the face to face sessions for the programme.
“We are delighted to have been designated as a provider for this excellent programme, which will support teachers to become excellent classroom practitioners in order to improve outcomes for young people.” explained Sarah Rockliff, Teaching School Alliance Director.
“The Chartered Teacher Programme is an excellent opportunity to raise the profile of the profession. Forward-thinking school leaders are already starting to recognise the value of the Chartered Teacher Status, for example as part of the evidence for the upper pay scale, which is really promising,” commented Andrew Truby, Executive Headteacher of St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School, Sheffield and St Wilfrid Catholic Primary School, Sheffield and Strategic Lead.
Cat Scutt, Director of Education and Research at the Chartered College of Teaching, said, “Moving to this new approach for the delivery of our Chartered Teacher programme is a really exciting step for the Chartered College of Teaching. Our pilot providers all have extensive experience in delivering high-quality teacher continuing professional development. We are looking forward to working with them and making use of their local expertise to offer tailored support and development opportunities. This will help to ensure more teachers can have their expertise and skills recognised through CTeach status.”
The prestigious Chartered Teacher Programme recognises an individual’s excellent knowledge and practice as a teacher, along with a commitment to professional growth. The first ninety-eight teachers in the country to be awarded Chartered Teacher status graduated last July.
